This stylish Marlyebone bar has something of the feel of a speakeasy about it. Admittedly this isn’t a hugely original look; it’s not the first and won’t be last to dip into the pool of Prohibition era cool, but it does it particularly well. With dark wooden wall panels and even darker leather sofas, it’s an atmospheric space and a lot of attention has clearly been given to the details of the design (check out the old-school phone booth). The drinks list is a thing of beauty and the staff blends traditional bar-tending techniques with more contemporary mixology – their Backwards Bellini an example of the latter. Their classic cocktails are textbook in execution and for they will whip up a champagne and caviar cocktail for those feeling particularly decadent. The mood is one of understated glamour, hip but not imposingly so.
