Since 2008 poachers have killed at least 5,940 African rhinos……

The Cause

Save the Rhino International’s vision is for all five rhino species to thrive in the wild for future generations. They collaborate with partners to support endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. To find out more about their work please visit www.savetherhino.org (UK registered charity number 1035072)

Last year one rhino was poached every eight hours on average in South Africa alone. Poaching for their horns is the biggest threat to the rhino’s survival. The illegal trade in animals, plants and fish is the fourth largest illegal trade after drugs, arms and human trafficking. This illegal trade destroys wildlife, threatens global security and affects employment of poorer local communities. Save the Rhino International works to protect all five rhino species and support the communities that share their habitat, through a range of activities including anti-poaching and monitoring patrols, environmental education and demand reduction programmes.

Purl’s Managing Director & Owner, Bryan Pietersen, grew up in South Africa and spends a large amount of his time there every year, his frequent visits to the bush means he has personally witnessed the destruction of rhinos over recent years.

In addition to having run The London Marathon for Save The Rhino and cycled the Rhino Ride in the past to raise funds, Purl London makes a monthly contribution towards Save The Rhino.
